The old stocks in Glympton ©Elaine Argent
Glympton is a charming little village on the River Glyme, 3 miles north of Woodstock. The village was once grouped around the parish church but in the 1640s it was moved a quarter of mile to make way for the landscaping of Glympton Park, leaving the parish church all alone, isolated in its original position. Apart from the parish church, no trace remains of the original village or of the relocated 17C village survives.. Other than an 18C inn, now a private house, all the houses were either remodelled or built in the 19C or 20C.
