The pretty little 18th century hump backed bridge featured in TV drama Downton Abbey - photo courtesy of Chris Burton

The attractive ford across ‘The Shill’ brook, the open village green and pretty stone cottages are much photographed and make the village of Shilton a truly Cotswold experience. Shilton has a fine medieval church, The Church of the Holy Rood.

The village was used as a location in the popular television drama, Downton Abbey: the Old Forge, beside the ford, became the Red Lion pub and the delightful little 18th century hump-backed bridge also featured.
