Carterton is one of Oxfordshire’s newest towns and the second largest in West Oxfordshire. It began as a settlement of smallholdings before the First World War and grew rapidly as the result of its proximity to the Royal Air Force base at Brize Norton. It is now a thriving cosmopolitan community of around 14,000 people. The town is a bustling, lively place with a modern centre and many amenities including a leisure centre. The large Thursday Market is well-known throughout the area.
