There is a rich display of imagination, observation and decoration in this show by seven artists skilled in sculpture, painting, printmaking, stained glass and pottery.
People are central to Frans Wesselman’s work; his etchings and stained glass often tell a story inspired by literature, Shakespeare, and folk tales showing worlds inhabited by fools, philosophers and poets. Sadie Brockbank’s makes paintings and collages of animals in colourful, imaginative landscapes and bronze sculptures of anthropomorphic figures full of vitality and movement.
Jo Kimpton oil paintings revel in the colours and coastal atmosphere of Pembrokeshire. Jennifer Bartlett makes collagraph prints of megaliths and ancient stone circles from across the country. Juliet Dyer creates unusual, quirky figures and animals in clay with a light, deft skill. Graham Mant makes functional butter dishes, platters and casseroles in blues, browns and cream. Matt Grimmitt makes country slipware pottery in the style of his great great grandfather, Elijah Comfort, who worked with Michael Cardew at the Winchcombe Pottery in the 1920’s.
