Visitors to Kelmscott Manor - the stunning summer home of Victorian designer, poet and socialist, William Morris – can enjoy some significant changes in the 2009 season. When the doors to Morris’s 16th century country haven open on 1st April, people will have access, for the first time, to the old kitchen. Rather than try to set the Kelmscott Manor kitchen at a particular time in its history, the owners have been inspired by some of Morris’s ideals. Simply furnished, the architecture and materials of this beautiful room are being allowed to dominate. The 2009 season will offer visitors even more opportunities to see Kelmscott Manor. Saturday opening for the general public is being extended to twelve days – the first and third Saturdays of the month from April to the end of September. Along with every Wednesday throughout the season, these Saturdays will provide all-day opening, 11am to 5pm.
