If food and drink are your thing, there are a wealth of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and traditional country inns to cater for every taste and occasion, with innovative and imaginative menus across a wide range of culinary styles. So, be it a romantic meal for two or a family outing - and whether you prefer a familiar menu or something a little more out of the ordinary, the Oxfordshire Cotswolds can offer you a gastronomic experience of the highest order.
Perhaps not surprisingly, 'fruits of the land' are plentiful here, so a wide range of locally produced delicacies are available from the traditional Farmers' Markets. These are held in Chipping Norton, Witney, Woodstock and Charlbury. There are also a number of excellent farm shops, including the award winning Foxbury Farm, selling a wonderful selection of high quality local products. In season you can also 'pick your own' - you can't get fresher than that! Amongst the gems in the area's larder are locally brewed beers and real ales from the Wychwood Brewery which are open to the public. What could be more idyllic than putting together a fabulous picnic of tasty delights, all locally produced, to enjoy as you soak up the scenery.
