Though Brize Norton dates back to the middle ages, it is best known today for its RAF station, nerve centre of the RAF’s transport capabilities. Until 1937 the village was a self-sufficient agricultural community linked with Bampton and the parish church, St Britius, is Norman though heavily restored in the Victorian era.
