Towns & Villages
The Oxfordshire Cotswolds has a number of bustling market towns, each with their own distinct character like medieval Burford, with its memorable High Street; Woodstock's Market Place with its fine Georgian facades; the wide open space of Witney's Church Green; or the busy Market Place in Chipping Norton.
There are also plenty of smaller places to discover and explore like Bampton, familiar to fans of the TV drama Downton Abbey as Downton village, Shilton with its picturesque ford, Filkins with its stone slab fences or Great Tew with its thatched ironstone cottages.
Want to discover the hidden villages of the Cotswolds? Then why not take a Secret Cottage tour: a six hour guided day tour of north Cotswold villages, combined with intervals in a private thatched cottage.
