The earliest church here dates from around 850 AD and the present church has thirteen centuries of history with nine phases of building, rebuilding and change.
There is a beautiful 14th century stone porch with the ceiling divided into eight sections, supported and decorated with carved stone heads, before you enter the church itself via a Norman doorway with its characteristic carved zig-zag stone mouldings. Almost direclty ahead as you enter is another walled-in Norman doorway and to its left is the Enstone War Memorial window of pre-Raphaelite stained glass, possibly by William Morris's company.
In the south chapel is a charming rustic tomb showing Stevens Wisdom kneeling befor his own memorial telling him that he died in 1633!
